The Earl J. Sinnamon Center Prairie Garden contains plants native to the continental United States. Almost completely in full sun, dotted with only a few pockets of shade, this garden is broken into four sections: the rain garden, the mesic meadow, the north slope and the dry prairie. Differing plant species occupy these four sections based on their needs and represent the diverse conditions on the prairie. These gardens demonstrate to visitors that native plantings can indeed be beautiful and that “wildscapes” provide the most abundant habitat and resources for surrounding wildlife; bees, birds and butterflies of all kinds constantly utilize this garden to complete their lifecycles.
