Conophytum - From the Grek konos (cone) and phyton (plant), referring to the cone shape of the plant
meyeri Aloe meyeri and Conophytum meyeri are named for the Rev. Louis Gottlieb Meyer, 1867-1958, German naturalist, collected plants in Africa.

-Nepeta meyeri and Ribes meyeri is named for Carl Anton von Meyer, 1795-1855, German- Russian botanist, and plant collector, director of the St. Petersburg Botanical Gardens;

or

Picea meyeri and Syringa meyeri are for Frank Nicholas Meyer, 1875-1918, Netherland born, naturalized American citizen, collected plants in Asia for the USA department of Agriculture, confirmed the origin of the Chestnut blight. The meyer lemon also named for him.
