Mount Goliath is a mountain peak section of the Mount Evans natural area located outside of Idaho Springs within the Arapaho National Forest. Visitors to this fragile alpine environment can experience the highest cultivated garden in the Unites States. The garden is managed by Denver Botanic Gardens in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service. The Dos Chapell Nature Center provides information on currently blooming wildflowers and recent wildlife sightings. A hike on the M. Walter Pesman Trail will take visitors through subalpine and alpine ecosystems and through ancient wind-sculpted bristlecone pines.

The cultivated garden around the Dos Chapell Nature Center is populated with plants found within the Mount Evans natural area. Most of these plants originated as seed from the nearby slopes. Some of these plants are sown directly as seed and others are transplanted in late spring or early summer after the plants are propagated from seed in the Denver Botanic Gardens' greenhouses. Additional information:
Access to Mount Goliath and Mount Evans is seasonal and weather dependent. Please contact the Clear Creek Ranger District to find out if the road to Mount Evans is open (generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day).
