![]() Dramatic stonework and sweeping views showcase the plants of the four major steppe regions of the world. This groundbreaking effort compares and contrasts the flora of the sister steppes of North America, Central Asia, Patagonia and Southern Africa. The term steppe describes the semi-arid regions of the world that experience extremes in temperature and fall in the rain shadow of a major mountain range. The geography and plant life of the steppes vary tremendously, encompassing mountains, plains, forests and deserts. Visit the Science Pyramid to learn more about steppes and the natural world.
This garden was designed by Didier Design Studio and installed in 2016. To see a list of plants in the Steppe Garden click here. |
