Denver Botanic Gardens Gardens Navigator |
Practical and artistic at the same time, this edible landscape displays creative ornamental patterns of the plants we love to cook and eat. "Le Potager", meaning "the kitchen garden", is the garden one might picture growing along side a French chateau. Imagine the garden under the domain of a chef who harvests thyme for his masterpiece of Blanquette de veau, and squash for his famed ratatouille. You sense the pride of the chef, not only in the quality of the harvest, but also in the refinement of the garden's organization. Many of the flowers, including the nasturtiums, are edible - often placed on the side of the plate by the chef for an aesthetic culinary experience.
Le Potager is constantly evolving to include many vegetables and fruits, depending on the season. For a list of plants in Le Potager, click here. |
