The Nexus Garden was initially installed as a formal parterre in 2010 when the greenhouse and orangery were completed. Redesigned in 2018, this garden now features a collection of WALK IN BEAUTY™ Opuntia (prickly pears) bred by local grower and hybridizer Kelly Grummons. Additional cacti and succulents as well as many drought-tolerant perennials are also planted on this steep slope with more to be added in the upper bed during spring and summer 2019.
Several varieties of spring blooming redbud and summer blooming butterfly bush can be enjoyed in the bed on the north side of this garden as well. For a list of plants in the Nexus Garden, click here. |
