Lainie's Cutting Garden contains a colorful and varied mix of herbaceous and woody plant material for the cutting of flowers, foliage and branches. Used primarily for fresh or dried arrangements, Lainie's Cutting Garden is designed to be aesthetically pleasing with beautiful plant combinations organized in an overall color scheme. The radiating central beds contain annual plants organized by color while the exterior beds are lushly planted with herbaceous perennials and shrubs, also arranged by color.
Cutting gardens gained popularity during the Victorian era when flowers were harvested from the gardens for indoor decoration. Rather than cut flowers from display gardens, the idea of creating a separate garden just for cutting flowers and greenery was born. This garden was named in honor of long time cutting garden volunteer, Lainie Jackson. For a list of plants in Lainie's Cutting Garden, click here. |
