Riparian Demonstration Garden at Chatfield Farms |
Denver Botanic Gardens Gardens Navigator |
The riparian demonstration garden is a half-acre site dedicated to reintroducing streamside native species. Supplemental irrigation helps mimic the different ways a riparian system receives water. The goal is to create balance between the upper canopy, understory shrub level and the abundant grasses and forbs that dominate the lowest levels in the garden. Over time, dominant invasive species have been eliminated and the site now includes a diverse plant matrix.
