The historical Iris collection at Chatfield Farms contains more than 400 different varieties with the oldest variety dating back to 1597. The first blooms emerge in late May and explode in a rainbow of colors through the second week of June. Heirloom irises include fragrant varieties that are some of the oldest in cultivation and newer breeds from the experimental crosses of iris hybridizers and enthusiasts.
