Insect Hotel |
Denver Botanic Gardens Gardens Navigator |
![]() Insect hotels are popular in Europe and provide insects a home, especially during winter months. It may be used by solitary bees, solitary wasps or even butterflies.
Good materials for constructing insect hotels include stone, wood, log rounds with various sized holes drilled in it, bark, and bundled reeds, bamboo or other twigs with hollow centers. Different sized holes in the interior materials will attract different species of insects. These insect hotels were built by Gardens staff and volunteers in the summer of 2013 for National Pollinator Week. |
